Maggie Houlding - ex-3rd horn - studied at the Guildhall School of Music with Jeffrey Bryant, Tony Chidell and Tony Halstead. With her wind quintet, The British Wind Quintet, she won 2nd prize in the International Competition in Munich. She joined Opera North in 1986 and has appeared with other orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Hallé, Welsh National Opera, London Festival Ballet and London City Ballet. On joining Opera North she became particularly involved with the company’s education work.
